Quality in Research
Wheat Tech's Research and Development team works together to provide our consultants and clients with reliable, repeatable, and accurate data. A combined effort between consultants and R&D personnel is used to make our goals and research ideas a reality. While most of the plot work is done by our research staff, ideas about how to progress with on farm problems and challenges come from the minds of the consultants, growers, and seed/chemical companies.
The R&D team works in south central Kentucky, west Tennessee, and the bootheel of Missouri providing data on many different soil and environmental conditions. All of these areas have consultants with large customer bases. Currently, we have wheat plots at all locations, including a no-till plot in south central Kentucky. Wheat Tech also has soybean plots at all locations, with two in Kentucky being true double crop and one a piece in Missouri and Tennessee; both of which are full season. The research team typically has between five and eight corn plots in south central Kentucky, and for the first time, a full hybrid location in west Tennessee.
The following types of trials can be conducted at these plot locations:
- Commercial and Experimental Varieties
- Pesticide efficacy including both commercially available and experimental compounds
- Fertilizer management
- Seeding Rate
- Seed Increases for plant breeders (wheat)
- Foliar nutrition
Any trial can be conducted under a secrecy agreement if the participating organization desires to do so.
